Welcome to the Friends of Harkness

The Friends of Harkness Memorial State Park, Inc is an all-volunteer organization formed in 1992 to help preserve and restore the estate of Edward and Mary Harkness which was given to the people of the State of Connecticut in 1950.

Harkness Memorial State Park is managed and maintained by DEEP, the CT Department of Energy and the Environment. The Friends work in partnership with park management and staff on ...
  • Long-term capital improvement projects
  • Maintaining the formal gardens
  • Educating the public with tours and programming
At the legislative level, the Friends group advocates to secure staff and funding levels that will ensure the park and its facilities are enjoyed by future generations.

The Friends group is a community of volunteers who truly enjoy working together. It is seeking members who love the park & would like to become active volunteers and/ or financial supporters ... small or large.
